Friday Forest Club – New Years Day- under the trees by the River
A new year. An almost empty city. Calm and cool. Looking ahead
On New Year’s Day the Friday Forest Club returns to De Esch. We meet in the early afternoon and wander through the old willows towards the river.
Winter makes this place wonderfully clear. Bare branches, cold air, water everywhere and the wide Nieuwe Maas with ships passing close by.
This afternoon we use our senses to explore what is here at the very beginning of the year. We slow down, spend time on our own and gather again along the way for tea and some nice snacks.
New Year water ritual
At the little beach on the Maas we make time for a simple water ritual. The river keeps moving while a new year begins. We use the water, the current and what we find along the shore to mark that moment in our own way.
No resolutions required. Just a new year, a winter afternoon and the river.

Language
The main language of the Friday Forest Club is English. If it feels easier to express something in Dutch, that’s absolutely fine. Parts of the conversation or sharing can be in Dutch when that works better for you.
